E3.formboard - The Complete and Automated Documentation for Electrical Harnesses

Written by Arthur Hoerlle | Jun 01, 2021

The engineering for creating electrical harnesses is quite complex and often demands large design hours. Therefore, to make this process faster and more reliable, we present the E3.formboard solution.

This is a complete solution for creating fabrication harness drawings on any sheet size with one or more fabrication drawings in the same project.

Its flexibility supports the entire process, from definition and design, through manufacturing and maintenance.

Optimized Creation

E3.formboard configurations include bonding, clipping, heat-resistant and corrugated tables. Wire lengths are automatically determined and an algorithm calculates the outer diameter of the harness segments. To fit the paper, the whip branches are routed at any angle and the special print function allows individual sessions to be printed.

Cable segment visualization

E3.formboard calculates the wire length and the outer diameter of the harness segments. This automatically creates an optimized and ready-to-use cable.

Integration with Schematic Drawing

With the integration of E3.formboard with E3.cable, the logical interconnection data defined in E3.cable are used directly in E3.formboard. Any changes made to one of them are automatically updated to the other.

E3.formboard drawings provide a view and calculate the length and diameter of cables and harnesses, as defined in the schematic diagram.

Configurable connector tables can be placed on the drawing to display pin, wire, cable, signal, indicator, color and target information. These tables are dynamic, which means that a wire can be added to a pin shown in the table and connected to a pin in another table and E3.formboard will automatically route the wire from pin to pin through the harness segments.

Automated Project

Connectors added to the harness sheet automatically include connection tables, while connection lines are added between connectors defining the harness branches. Wires added to pins in connection tables are automatically routed through the shortest or pre-defined harness segment.

Print Setup Options

You can create connector tables that can guide the manufacturing process and graphically show the size and position of conductors and connectors.
